Boys with Attitude

Journey of the Maji

This is my very favorite Christmas quote. When things get crazy, as they always seem to do this time of year, I'm always amazed that I can find peace in this passage..."If, as Herod, we fill our lives with things, and again with things; if we consider ourselves so unimportant that we must fill every moment of our lives with action, when will we have the time to make the long, slow journey across the desert as did the Maji? Or sit and watch the stars as did the shepherds? Or brood over the coming of the child as did Mary? For each one of us, there is a desert to travel. A star to discover. And a being within ourselves to bring to life." Author Unknown

Countdown

“Difficult times have helped me understand better than before how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every way and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever.” Isak Dinesen

The Holidays

It's here...the holiday season. Welcome to everyone viewing our blog for the first time! Hope to be keeping this more up to date in the coming year. Also, Alex is going to try his hand at "blogging" as well. He is a talented writer and should fare much better than his old mom.

In short, we are all well and fine. Alex is acting this sememster and will be featured in "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" sponsored by the UAFS Academy of the Arts and Young Actor's Guild. Has been a wonderful, self affirming experience for him.

Little Andrew is flourishing in preschool - he is very personable and is still most curious about all sorts of diggers, excavators, rollers, etc. Wants a fish for Christmas.

Me, I want more time to read, read, read. Love my moments in the library when it is quiet (in an elementary school...those are few and far between) and I can grab a quick read...will try to post some holiday favorites soon.

new cat

It's really been three months?

I feel like I've been living in a time warp for real lately - can hardly believe that it's been THREE MONTHS since I've updated this blog! Here's a picture of Mark and Andrew working on the front landscaping - it was 20 degrees here in Arkansas this past weekend...can hardly wait until warmer weather! Planning our summer vacation to Florida and our spring break vacation to Eureka Springs is so exciting...I can't wait to CHILL out with my boys. However, keeping mindful of how important the day to day decision to be patient with life is, I am able to relax more in the moment then to wait until the "weekend" or on our "vacation". So liberating!
